Birth: 1765
Pennsylvania, USA
Death: 1842
Scioto County
Ohio, USA

The surname Millirons comes from the German Mühleisen, which is an occupational name for a miller. This usage comes from Middle High German mülisen, literally ‘mill-iron', meaning the shaft of the mill-wheel. It is quite possible that earlier generations than Michael may be found by the Millirons name or by the Muhleisen name or even variants of it. English speaking writers may have had trouble spelling it and could have come up with any number of variations in written records.

REAL ESTATE: On 17 Jan 1839, Michael purchased The SE quarter of the NE quarter of Sec 19 twp No. 5 of Range 19 from W. Lloyd Hart & wife Elizabeth . The price was $75. (recorded Vol. K p. 149, Scioto Co. OH courthouse). Witnesses were Robert Erwin and James Sampson. This is in the same township as the 1834 transaction above. Same land? Adjoining parcel? The 1834 transaction was only 40 acres.

Son, Samuel, after the other heirs & the widow quit claimed for $50 their interest in the property, sold the land to Soloman Dever on 29 Sep 1843 (recorded Vol. M, page 161 Scioto co. OH). Witnesses to the quit claim were Miranda Searl and Wyatt Searl. Witnesses to sale to Dever were Shelton Powell and Edward Freeland.

CENSUS 1830 Bloom Twp, Scioto Co, OH, Pg 81. Michael Millirons, single man (20-30), on a page with about 20 other single men in the same 20-30 age bracket. Would not be a prison, as would be different ages. Possibly a military unit. There is a Michael Millirons, Jr. that witnessed one of the marriages. So, either there is an 11th child, or one of the boys is really Michael, Jr.
