Jack C. Blanchong, 78, died at 11:30 a.m. Dec. 31, 2010, at his residence.

He was born June 4, 1932, in Lima to Charles C. and Helen Beebe Blanchong, who preceded him in death. On Aug. 9, 1957, he married Margaret M. Ward, who survives in Lima.

Mr. Blanchong had been a music teacher for 36 years, mostly with the Lima City Schools. He tuned pianos for more than 25 years. He was a member of Zion Lutheran Church. He was a graduate of Lima South High School and Ohio Northern University, where he received his bachelor's degree in music education. He played the clarinet in the Senior Citizens and Hallelujah Saints bands, was a member of the Ohio Retired Teachers, Allen County Retired Teachers and had directed several church choirs. He served with the Army during the Korean War. He enjoyed writing poetry, singing, telling jokes and entertaining at Van Crest Care Center in Delphos.

Survivors also include a son, Tim (Jami) Blanchong, of Washington Court House; two daughters, Lori Blanchong and Susan (Tom) Lucente, both of Lima; and six grandchildren, Sarah Foltz, Thomas Foltz, Alexa Blanchong, Jena Blanchong, Caterina Lucente and Sophia Lucente.

Services will begin at 11 a.m. Tuesday at Zion Lutheran Church. The Rev. Kent Wilson will officiate. Burial will be in St. Matthew Cemetery, near Cridersville.

Friends may call from 3 to 5 and 6 to 8 p.m. Monday at Bayliff & Son Funeral Home, Cridersville.

Memorial contributions may be made to Zion Lutheran Church or Van Crest Health Care PARKS Program, attention Bob Kann, a Parkinson's therapy group.
