Borgmeyer, Barbara Ann St. Charles, MO. Barbara returned to the Lord on Friday, May 13, 2011 after a long illness. She was 48. Barbara was born on June 29, 1962 to Kenneth and Anna Mae (Mosher) Borgmeyer. She attended St. Charles Borromeo Elementary School and graduated from Duchesne High School with the Class of 1980. She attended Northeast Missouri State University in Kirksville for two years and graduated magna cum laude from Lindenwood University with a degree in communications. She worked at General Motors in Wentzville while attending college. She was employed for several years with the Division of Family Services and worked for NECAC in the Energy Assistance Program. She was a tireless volunteer for numerous community programs and an active member of St. Charles Borromeo Catholic Church. She assisted with the 100 Neediest Cases Holiday Outreach for the Division of Family Services and helped for many years with the Borromeo Parish Picnic. Years ago, facing the possibility of losing her vision, Barb became active with the St. Charles County Council of the Blind. She developed many new friendships and assisted with the planning committee for the Missouri State Convention. She gave her time and energy to Meals In Crisis and the St. Vincent dePaul Society and was a member of the Ladies Sodality of Borromeo Church. She worked for many years with her parents in their catering business and for about two years Barb and her mom cooked for the priests at the Borromeo Rectory. Among other talents, Barb enjoyed writing and was an Opinion Shaper columnist for the St. Charles Journal. Over the years she wrote many letters and essays for and about her family. She often made cards for her family and friends with her own artwork and heartfelt sentiments. In 1992, the whole Borgmeyer family received a gift, the value of which can never be measured, when Barb became a grateful recipient of organ donation. This gift enabled Barb to enjoy many years of good health, and as a result, Barb was able to give years of service to her community and to be involved in the lives of her niece and nephew. She was both aunt and godmother to Lucy and Ben and was devoted to them and always interested in their lives. She traveled to Joplin several times for their Sacraments and birthdays. A great sense of humor, a deep and abiding faith, great family support and many enduring friendships helped Barb cope with her own challenges in life, but most of the time Barb's concern for the needs of others, helped her get through difficult times. Barbara was preceded in death by her grandparents, George and Bibiana Mosher, Edmund Borgmeyer and grandmother, Agnes Borgmeyer, to whom Barb was very devoted as well as her aunt Betty Kopetzky and uncle Robert Lauer. She lost a very special friend with the passing of her brother's yellow Labrador "Murphy" who Barb loved as her own pet. She is survived by parents, Ken and Anna Mae Borgmeyer; brothers, Brian and Tom Borgmeyer; a sister-in-law Tracy Borgmeyer and her niece and nephew, Lucy and Ben Borgmeyer, as well as many aunts, uncles and cousins. We were all blessed to have her in our lives. Services: Barbara has donated her body to St. Louis University School of Medicine. A Memorial Mass will be held on Saturday, June 4, at 10 a.m. at St. Charles Borromeo Catholic Church. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the American Diabetes Association or the St. Vincent dePaul Society of Borromeo Church. The family would like to express their gratitude to Barb's many physicians and caregivers at St. Joseph Health Center, DePaul Hospital and Life Care Center of Bridgeton. Every kindness you showed to Barbara and her family will be remembered.
