BETTIE J. HILGEMAN, 84, of Coldwater, Mich., formerly of Fort Wayne, died Tuesday, June 1, 2010, at her home. Born April 19, 1926, she was the daughter of the the late Oliver and Melba (Wingate) Friddle. She married Norman Hilgeman on April 14, 1946, in Fort Wayne; he survives in Coldwater. "Bettie truly enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren at her lake cottage and in Florida." She worked in the Order Dept. of her son's business, Envelope Service. She was a member of Good Shepherd Lutheran Church, Gulf Breeze, Fla. and a former member of Bethlehem Lutheran Church, Fort Wayne. She was also an active Girl Scout leader. Also surviving are son, Gary (Pamela) Hilgeman of Asheville, N.C.; daughter, Tamara (Kevin) Whalen of Blacklick, Ohio; seven grandchildren, Brandon (Krista) Hilgeman, Andrew Whalen, Alexandra Whalen, Spencer Hilgeman, Austin Whalen, Anna Hilgeman, and Kelby Hilgeman; two great-grandchildren, Taylor and Emily Hilgeman; and sister, Patsie Rumsey of Fort Wayne. Service is 1:30 p.m. Friday, June 4, 2010, at Concordia Lutheran Church, 4245 Lake Avenue, Fort Wayne, with visitation one hour prior. Burial in Concordia Cemetery Gardens, Fort Wayne.
