Mattie W. Keranen, 61, of Flint passed away Sunday, July 20, in St. Joseph Hospital, Flint.
He was born August 12, 1907 in Atlantic Mine. For the past 53 years he had been a resident of Flint.
Mr. Keranen was employed by the Buick Motor Car Company for 33 years, retiring in August of 1968.
He was a member of St. Paul Lutheran Church for the Deaf, Flint Association of the Deaf and Michigan Association of the Deaf and the Senior Citizens for the Deaf.
Surviving are the wife, Jane E., two daughters; 7 grandchildren; four sisters, Mrs. Jennie Karppinen of Atlantic Mine, Mrs. Alma Taylor of Flushing, Mrs. Martha Coponen of South Range and Mrs. Anna Cross of Toledo, Ohio; three brothers, George of Clarkston, Henry of Mass and Harold of Carlsbad, N.M. and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held Wednesday at 3 p.m. at the Floral Chapel Dodds-Dumanois Co. Funeral Home, 901 Garland St., Flint. Burial will be in Flint Memorial Park.
The family suggests memorials to the St. Paul Lutheran Church for the Deaf in lieu of other expressions of symphathy.
