Clarence W. Coponen, born March 2, 1919, in Atlantic Mine, Michigan, died May 13, 2010, in Apache Junction, Ariz.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Mildred Coponen; parents, Walter Coponen and Amanda Coponen; brothers, Robert Coponen, Cullen Coponen, Raymond Coponen, and Wesley Coponen; sisters, Hazel Schnabel, Martha Hovorka and Silvia Ross; a daughter, Sharon; and a son, Richard Coponen.
He was survived by his brother and sister-in-law, Floyd and Lillian Coponen of Highland, Mich.; stepdaughter, Carolyn Andrews of South Range, stepdaughter, Margret Dryden of Scottsdale, Ariz., stepdaughter, Judy Lockhart and her husband, Gary Lockhart, who were Clarence's special caregivers for several years; stepsons, Tom and John Dryden of Ariz. He is also survived by several grandchildren and step-grandchildren; nieces and nephews; and grandnieces and nephews.
Clarence was a veteran of WWII, having served in Europe from 1944 through 1946.
