*Ira Lawrence Hadley, son of the late George Edward and Cora Belle (Malone) Hadley, was born September 23, 1902 at Hazelton, MO. and departed this life December 24, 1972 at the Texas County Memorial Hospital, Houston, MO. making his age at the time of death 70 years, 3 months, and 1 day.
*He was united in marriage to Dortha Lawson April 10, 1926, and to this union 6 children were born, 2 sons and 4 daughters.
*He leaves to mourn at his passing his beloved wife of the home, Dortha, Lawrence, Jr. of Dudley, Mo., Delores Rauscher, Licking, MO.; Georgia Williams, Roby, Mo.; Doris Chambers, Labadie, Mo., Donald, Licking, Mo.; 18 grandchildren and 2 great grandchildren; two brothers, Herschel of Licking and Leslie of Rolla, MO; 1 sister, Mabel Rennick of Licking, Mo.; and a host of nieces nephews, other relatives and many friends.
*He was preceded in death by 1 daughter, Lois Maxine, 1 brother, Arnold, 1 sister Gertrude Ricks, and 2 grandchildren.
*In 1950 he was converted and became an active member of the church always faithful in trying to look after the needs of the church. In 1955 he became a charter member of the Pentecostal Holiness Church in Licking, MO. He used his God given talents in many departments of the church serving as deacon and Sunday School teacher of the men's class for several years. He had a great interest in the spiritual growth of the church as well as the progress of the church building.
*He lived his entire life in and around Licking and was engaged in mercantile business owning and operating several stores in the vicinity of Licking. He was also active as a livestock dealer until he retired in 1967.
*Lawrence was a devoted family man. He loved his wife, children and grandchildren and would do anything for them. His love and devotion will be greatly missed by all.
**THOUGHTS
Just think of stepping on shore, and finding it heaven.
Of taking hold of a hand, and finding it God's hand.
Of breathing new air, and finding it celestial air.
Of feeling invigorated, and finding it immortality.
Of passing from storm, and tempest, to an unbroken calm.
Of waking up and find it home.
*Funeral services were held Wednesday, December 27, 1972 at 2:00 p.m. in the Pentecostal Holiness Church. Officiating ministers were Rev. Curtis Yarnell and Rev. Euell Groves. Pallbearers were Aaron Breedlove, Utah Wofford, Robert Keaton, Lawrence Hutsell, roscoe Mace, LeRoy Myers. Honorary pallbearers were Berry Crow, Bulas Smith, Paul Vestal, Weldon Austin, Johnny Burris, Jap Mace, Roy Granger. Interment in the Craddock Cemetery under the direction of Smith & Ferguson Funeral Home.
