R. J. Goff, 84 passed away on April 3, 2012 at Orange Park Medical Center. R. J. was born in Fontainebleau, MS on August 22, 1927 to Sarah Etta and Leroy Goff.
He is survived by his wife June Goff of 60 years. He spent most of his life caring for and helping other people. He established the Neighborhood Watch Program in Lake Asbury. He volunteered for 12 years at the Life Care Center of Orange Park. He was awarded the What Ever It Takes Award in 2004 and the National Life Care Center of America Wind Beneath My Wings Award in 2008. He and his wife June were jointly awarded the Florida Healthcare Association Volunteer Award of the Year in 2008.
R. J. retired as a supervisor/foreman at NADEP after 29 years combined Navy and Civil Service. He leaves several nieces and nephews after being their longest living relative. The family would like to thank the staff of Life Care Center, Kingsley Ave. in Orange Park and the Medical team of Orange Park Medical Center for their loving, excellent care.
Funeral services in celebration of his life will be held at 2 PM on Monday, April 9, 2012 in the chapel of Jacksonville Memory Gardens Funeral Home, 111 Blanding Blvd., Orange Park, FL. Interment will follow in Jacksonville Memory Gardens with Military Honors conferred by the U.S. Navy. Family members and friends will gather from 1 PM until the hour of service at the funeral home on Monday afternoon.
