C. E. CUMMINS DIES SUDDENLY: Prominent Parkersburg Man Succumbs While Visiting at Huntington.

Carroll E. Cummins, aged 49, prominent resident of Parkersburg and former member of the Parkersburg board of education, died suddenly this morning at 12:20 o'clock at the house of his sister, Mrs. A. L. Shutts at Huntington.

Mr. Cummins, who resided at 1304 Welles Circle, this city, had gone to Huntington last Wednesday to visit his sister. Although he had suffered a serious illness about two years ago, which left his health in a weakened condition, Mr. Cummins had been able to be about and enjoy his daily routine of life, and his death was unexpected.

Mr. Cummins served as a commissioner on the board of education here from January 1, 1929 to January 1, 1933. He was a member of the First Baptist Church, Mount Olivet Lodge, B.P.O. Elks, and the Lions Club. For several years he was connected with Viscose Company, holding a position in the office at the local rayon mill.

His death removes one of this city's most active leaders in civic affairs. Mr. Cummins always gave his time and efforts willingly and earnestly in any civic project for the good of the city. His latest civic work was in the recent Community Chest Drive.

Mr. Cummins was born and reared in Wood County and attended local schools. His old family homestead is located on a farm in Lubeck district. Surviving are his wife, Mrs. Linnie Cummins; one son, Gerald of New York City, and one daughter, Gail, at home; his mother, Mrs. A. B. Cummins of Huntington; and three sisters, Mrs. Mattie Cline of Pueblo, Colo., Mrs. S. O. McDougle of this city, and Mrs. A. L. Shutts of Huntington. Frank McClure of Charleroi, Pa., is a brother-in-law.

The body was brought to this city today by the Veteran Funeral Company. Funeral arrangements are incomplete.
