Charles Hake was the son of George Hake and Sarah. His paternal grandparents were Daniel Hake Sr. and Sarah Elizabeth Ilgenfritz Hake. His maternal grandparents were John Philip and Sarah Salome Schneider Hake. Charles was a bus driver.
Charles first married Emma Thomas on 14 December 1876, in Jefferson County. Charles then married Amelia Pheiffer on 7 April 1881, in Ft. Atkinson. Amelia was born on 7 June 1857, in New York City. She died on 24 May 1905, in Ft. Atkinson and is buried in the Evergreen Cemetery. Amelia was the daughter of Philip Pheiffer and Louise B. Pheiffer.

Charles then married Charlotte Imogene Smith on 19 May 1909. Charlotte was born on 27 September 1877, in Massachusetts. She died on 28 March 1914 in Ft. Atkinson and is buried in the Evergreen Cemetery. Charlotte was the daughter of James Emory Smith and Jane Drake Smith. Charles and Charlotte had one child.
Buried in the Evergreen Cemetery, at Ft. Atkinson, Wisconsin, is Margaret Hake who was buried 6 December 1910 at the age of 3 months. Margaret is buried near Charles Hake.
