He was born Sept. 1, 1942, at Monette to Mason and Willene Cason Trammel.
A graduate of Monette High School, he then went on to Arkansas State University and Southern Seminary. He was retired after 26 years as minister of education and administration at West Jackson Street Baptist Church at Tupelo, Miss. Prior to that, he was on staff at Sheridan Road Baptist Church in Tulsa, Okla., and also served churches in Florida and Arkansas.
Services were held in the West Jackson Street Baptist Church with Bert Harper and Stanley Huddleston officiating. Graveside services were held in Monette Cemetery. W.E. Pegues Funeral Directors was in charge of the arrangements.
Survivors include his wife of 13 years, Billie Sue Trammel of the Pratts community; his mother, Willene Trammel of Monette; two special sons, Shad Sims (Laura) of Southaven, Miss., and Matt Robertson of Pratts; one sister, Macine Hughes of Jonesboro; one brother, Robert Trammel of Manila; one sister-in-law, Donna Trammel of Jonesboro; three grandchildren, Jake Sims, Anna Claire Sims and Mac Sims; two nephews, Robert Earl Walden and Jeff Trammel; and one niece, Lori Johnson.
He was preceded in death by his father, Mason Trammel, and a brother-in-law, Bobby Joe Hughes.
Pallbearers were Raymond Moody, Connie Brown, Jack Hancock, Billy Hancock, Hal Hancock, Ernest Gunter, Jerry McBride and Tommy Vickers.
