Ed was the 3rd of twelve children of George and Lydia Wallace. He was 91 at the time of his death.

Ed was employed at The Evening Sun (Hanover, PA newspaper) for 47 years. He started after high school as a reporter, then as sports editor, city editor, managing editor and finally as editor from 1961 to 1972, after which he retired. He also was the former secretary and assistant treasurer of The Evening Sun for a number of years.

Ed was a member of the United States Harness Writers Association and served on its board of directors for 10 years. He was a member of St. Matthew Lutheran Church, Hanover, PA.

His wife, Lorraine Rossman Wallace, died July 9, 1991. At the time of his death, he was survived by three brothers Richard C. and David L., both of Hanover, and William H. of Darien, IL. He was preceded in death by two brothers and six sisters.
