Dr. George R. Ramsey, 75, of Cape Coral, Florida, passed away peacefully Friday, June 11, 2010. He was born October 17, 1934 in Hinsdale, Illinois. He was a veteran of the U.S. Navy. Moved to Cape Coral, Florida in 1964 after graduating from the University of Illinois Dental School in 1959 (Chicago). He was a member of Cape Coral Golf Club, publicity chairman of the Holy Name Society of St. Andrew Catholic Church, judge advocate of the Knights of Columbus, and member of The Rotary Club. He practiced dentistry at Sunland for 2 years, and for 43 years more after opening his General Dentistry practice on June 24, 1965 in Cape Coral.
He was pre-deceaced by Alice and George A Ramsey (his parents), and all of his siblings, Opal "Marie" Martin; June "Jay" Pattison; Evelyn Anderson-Plankinton; and Walter Ramsey.
Survivors include: Loving wife of 49 years Mary Ramsey; and 4 children; Kathy Becknell of Dahlonega, GA, Beth Sangiorgio of Brandon, FL, Greg Ramsey of Fort Myers, FL, and Steve Ramsey of Fort Myers, FL; and many grandchildren. He was well loved and respected by his family, and in the community. We will miss him dearly.
Visitation will be 5-7 p.m. Friday, June 18, at Coral Ridge Funeral Home; with funeral services at 1 p.m., Saturday, June 19, at St. Andrew Catholic Church; final resting place at Coral Ridge Cemetery.
