Son of Hugo & Frieda (Heesch) Pieper.
He received his education in Hall County. After his education he worked at the Cornhusker Army Ammunition Plant. He was also employed at the Glade Service Station.
He married Dorothy Seaman on Sept. 24, 1941, in Grand Island.
He entered the U.S. Army on July 23, 1942, and served during World War II in the African, European and Pacific Theaters. He was discharged on Nov. 18, 1945.
After his discharge, Mr. Pieper worked for Ernie Dalgas as a mechanic. He was then employed by Fairacres Dairy and later Roberts Dairy. He retired in 1978.
He enjoyed ballroom dancing with his wife and working in the garden.
He was a member of St. Paul's Lutheran Church, the American Legion, the VFW, the Eagles and the Platt-Duetsche.
Survivors include two sons, Jerry and David, both of Grand Island; three grandchildren; and two brothers, Delbert of Whittier, Calif., and Leroy of Radford, Va.
He was preceded in death by his wife in 1989; one brother, Leonard Pieper and one sister, Elnora Niedfelt.
