|Birth: ||Feb. 2, 1834|
|Death: ||Jan. 25, 1890|
Caroline was born in Schwieberdingen, Neckarkreis, Wuertemberg, Germany. The most contemporaneous birthdate I can find for her is 2 Feb 1834, from a genealogy found at www.familysearch.org (AFN:QCC8-SV)which was apparently done from original German records. That date is consistent with her age of 19 recorded at immigration.
She immigrated to this country on 25 April 1853 through New Orleans on the ship Belle Assise out of Le Havre. She was accompanied by family, including her brother Matthias (Mathew) Hoenes, who also lived out his life in Adrian and who is also buried in Oakwood Cemetery.
She married Henry W. Hines, an immigrant tailor from Bavaria, on 29 Dec 1856. They had 4 children who survived to adulthood, Charlotte Maria Hines (m. Johann Georg Karl), Helen Hines (m George H Hall) Caroline Hines (m Chauncy Millar), and George Ludwig Hines (m. Margaret Elizabeth White, of Battle Creek). Her husband Henry W. Hines drowned 8 July 1882. I have not located his burial site.
Charlotte Maria Hines Karl (1858 - 1934)*
Caroline Hines Millar (1868 - 1946)*
George Ludwig Hines (1873 - 1955)*
WIFE OF HENRY HINES
FEB 26 1832
JAN 25 1889
Note: Birth year on headstone questionable; A genealogy done from German records gives 1834 which is consistent with her age of 19 at immigration. Also, her death year was 1890.
