Revolutionary War Soldier

Joseph Maltby was born 21 May 1738 in Branford, New Haven, Connecticut, United States. His fathers name was Joseph Maltby also, 1712-1749 and his mother was Elizabeth Pratt, 1714-1810. After his revolutionary war duties in the military were fulfilled, Joseph moved to upstate New York and by 1816 was living in Rodman, N.Y. He was a minister of the Baptist order and in that year, formed the first church in the town of Lyme, N.Y. and was preaching and baptising folks at Salubrious Point and points east over to the First Baptist Church in Tylerville, 10 miles down the road. It is unclear at this time what town it was but Joseph would die on 11 July, 1845 in Jefferson co. N.Y. He is buried in the Tylerville Cemetery.
