In a 1991 interview with his granddaughter, Dalton said:

"I was raised in Detroit, Mom (Jewel) had kin there. First few years I would stay there with Aunt Georgia (nee Dickson) and Uncle Com Walling. (In Texas) Would stay there a year with them, then a year with Mom and Bill. (In Detroit)

"Off and on 'till I was around twelve.

"I was living with Aunt, when one night I got aggravated awful. I got out of the car one night when we was haulin' and ran away. I walked the railways 15 miles to Grandpa Brince's, and I stayed there a year or two. I went back to Michigan a couple'a years; came back to Grandpa's (Brince) funeral. Back to Michigan.

"I married at 19. Just before I married, I moved back to Texas and was living with Com and Georgia (Walling). Then Bill and Mom moved back to Trinity. Then stayed with them. Then married.

"Detroit- go school a year, then a year Texas.

"I met your Grandma (Josephine) in Trinity. She was a friend of my cousin.

"Used to have Church services at cousin's daddy's place and a small group would meet over there. One day she was there and so was I.

"I used to ride four miles on horseback to see her.

"Later I had a '36 [ ? ] Desoto. My courtin' car. (Laughs) Parked on a hill- had to push it- without a hill it wouldn't run. (Restart)"

Q: What if there were no hills?

A: "Without a hill it didn't run. I just didn't stop it there. It had a battery but it would run down from playing the radio and using the lights. Had to use the hill for safety, otherwise you didn't park."

Dalton married Josephine, twice. He later married, and had 2 daughters, Paula & Charla. He married one last time and had a baby girl whom died on the same day she was born, and later another daughter, Karen.

Dalton was a grandfather & great-grandfather. He is truly misssed.
