Joshua Molina, 13 months,

Amy Alanis barely saw the car speeding at them with its lights off. "He just came at us," she said through tears from her hospital bed this morning. "It was coming too fast."

The car rammed their Honda, killing her 13-month-old son Joshua and two of her friends all in the back seat. This happened about 9:30 PM Monday, February 1, 2010.

Joshua was taken to Children's Memorial hospital; he died of his injuries at 11:39 PM. Joshua was the son of Amy Alanis and Joshua Molina.

Joshua was in his car seat in the back seat; with family friends Aldo Maldonado, 21 and Orlando Rodriguez, 20.

Her finance Joshua Molina was behind the wheel and was not seriously hurt. Alanis, 20, said she pulled herself from the wreckage. "I was dragging out of the car because the air bag hit me pretty hard," she said.

Orlando Rodriguez, 20, was taken to Advocate Illinois Masonic Medical Center, where he died of his injuries Monday at 11:43 p.m. Aldo Maldonado, 21, died of his injuries at Stroger Medical Center at 1:05 a.m. Tuesday, February 2, 2010.

Amy Alanis said, "He just turned 1, he was a funny baby, he always smiled, he was just alert and he was just learning how to give kisses and hugs." The family called him J.J.

Little Joshua was a Christmas baby. Alanis was rushed to the hospital on Christmas Eve a year ago and Joshua arrived the next day.

His uncle said Joshua had just learned to walk by his birthday and had recently learned to run. "He was full of life, he just loved running around,'' said Jose Alanis. "He was still trying to catch his balance."
