Ray L. Karl Rites Held Sunday
Ray Leslie Karl, 69, of 564 South Whitmer Street, Richmond, died at
4:45 a.m., Friday, Jan. 2, at his home after an illness of several months.
Memorial services were held at 2:00 p.m., Sunday, Jan. 4, at the
Thurman Funeral Home with the Rev. Glendell Rasnic, of the Richmond Church
of God, officiating. Burial was in the Sunny Slope Cemetery.
The following served as pallbearers: Archie Roberts, Ellis Clemens,
Melvin Herod, Russell Phillips, R. B. Hughes and Vaughn Evans.
Mr. Karl was born April 28, 1900, at Carthage to Ray K. and Artie (Cox)
Karl but lived most of his lifetime in Ray County.
He was first married to Elizabeth Vinyard of Ray County. She died Jan.
26, 1951. He later was married to Oma Gant, also of Ray County, on April
5, 1952, and she survives at the home.
Other survivors are three sons, Kenneth Karl, Donald Karl and Vernon
Karl, all of Richmond; two daughters, Mrs. Hazel Burns and Mrs. Helen
Jeffries, both of Richmond; one sister Mae Loyd; 19 grandchildren and
Mr. Karl's body was taken to the family home, where they received
friends Saturday evening.
