John Charles McArthur, 46, a.k.a Johnny Mac, Critical Care paramedic, passed away peacefully Thursday, Sept. 30, 2010, at home, in the company of his new wife, Pamela.
John was a decorated Gulf War veteran, avid hunter and fly-fisherman, as well as a longtime member of the Prescott Valley Search and Rescue. He dedicated his life to being all he could for others. John was a protector of our country, a savior in medicine, and a most loyal friend and incredible husband. John knew how important it was to protect those he cared for, even at his own expense. To be friends with John was to know that he always had your back, and was committed to supporting and educating others.
He was always there for anyone in need. His love of Prescott Valley's beautiful topography and love of nature was well-known. Despite all hardships in his life, he strived to overcome all obstacles and was SO widely known and loved by everyone that he came into contact with. He was a boon to the patients he cared for; his friends, who loved him; and most of all his new wife and soulmate. We will never understand why God chose to take him 13 days after his wedding, when he had finally found peace.
He is survived by his wife, Pam; stepson Dustin; his sister Kathy; brothers David, Kenny and Richard; and his furry son Ricochet; not to mention his many friends of long acquaintance, Marty, Charlotte, Sergio, Scotty, Mike, Chet, and so many others. Flight of Angels bring you to rest, my sweetheart. Please, please be at peace, now. As one of his friends quoted, "We have lost a warrior, but Heaven has gained a true hero."
His Military Honors funeral will be noon Monday, Oct. 11, 2010, at the Prescott National Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made for John's memorial at Chase JP Morgan Chase Bank.
