Jerry D. Booth, 73, died October 3, 2004 at his home in Carmichael, Calif. He was born July 5, 1931 in Webster County, Mo. to Bill and Icy Booth. The family moved to Harrison County in 1938 where he attended Bondurant County school, and graduated from Bethany High School in 1949.

Following graduation he was employed by Williams Gas Pipeline Contruction until his enlistment in the U.S. Navy in 1952.

During the Korean War he served on the Navy refueler ship, the “Caliente”. After discharge in 1956 he married Opal Groom from Albany, Mo. and they moved to Sacramento, Calif.

For many years Jerry was the owner-operator of a heavy equipment business, known in the Sacramento are as Booth Excavation and Construction Company.

In February 2004 he suffered a stroke and remained bedfast until his death. Shortly before his death his brothers, John, Charles, Dan, and nephew, Rick Van Hooozer, enjoyed a few days visit with he and his brother, Jack Booth, and their families in Carmichael.

He was preceded in death by his parents, a sister, Helen Booth; two brothers, infant Wm. Jr., and Major James E. Booth, U.S.A.F.

In addition to wife Opal, he is survived by three sons, Kevin and Kent, Carmichael, Calif., and Kirk, N. Carolina; one daughter, Kelly, Seattle, Wash., and three grandchildren; four brothers, Jack Booth, Roseville, Calif., John Booth, Bethany, Charles Booth, Gladstone, Mo., and Dan Booth, Table Rock Lake, Mo.; two sisters, Louise Van Hoozer, Savannah, Mo., and Betty Jo Long, Gladstone, Mo.; many nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.

The body was cremated. A family memorial service was held in Carmichael on October 11, 2004.
