Funeral services were held Sunday at Mt. Zion Mennonite church for Henry Washington Magines, 70, who died Tuesday of last week at the home of his son-in-law and daughter, Mr. and Mrs. Edward L. Diener, northeast of Versailles. J.R. Shank, a Mennonite minister, conducted the service. Burial was in the cemetery adjoining the church.
Mr. Magines, a son of Joseph and Rebecca Magines, was born Oct. 10, 1877. On Feb. 20, 1900, he married Miss Lettie Inman, who died April 22, 1909. A son, Elliott, also preceded him in death. He married Miss Nora Hollcroft Jan. 30, 1910.
In youth he united with the Baptist church, later transferring his membership to the Mennonite church. All but four years of his life was spent in Morgan county.
Although in failing health several years, Mr. Magines was bedfast only a few days.
His is survived by his wife; a son, Ray Magines of Camas, Wash.; five daughters, Mrs. R. C. Wood of Gravois Mills, Mrs. Joe McGinnis of Kansas City, Kans., Mrs. Atis Sanders of Elton, Miss Ross Magines of Le Junta, Colo., and Mrs. E.L. Diener of Versailles; 13 grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
