--He was a son of Charles S. Archey and wife Francina Shirey. Leona was actually born in Virginia, but Monroe County was part of the area that became West Virginia in 1863.
--Occupation: Physician. He was practicing medicine in Rowan County, NC in 1880 and was in Concord by 1893.
--Spanish-American War Veteran; he served as 1st Lt./Asst. Surgeon in the war in 1898.
--He married #1 Mary Caroline Fisher on Feb. 12, 1883 in Rowan County. They had one daughter Mary L. Archey.
--He married #2 Kate Cresswell Reed in 1891; this marriage produced 2 children: Helen F. and Leona Marion Archey Jr.
