Son of Rufus Cecil and Martha Mae Henson Ward. A descendant of the Cherokee Ward family and gggg-grandson of Bryant Ward who married Nancy Ward (Ghi-gau) a noted figure in Cherokee history. Timber worker in his younger years in Hardin County, Tennessee. Commercial fisherman on the Tennessee River at Waterloo, Alabama, constructioin worker for TVA at Muscle Shoals, Alabama. Whiskey peddler or bootlegger in 1960's, 70's and early 80's until he got caught by the ABC and county sheriff. Gave it up after getting caught. It was a tradition carried on by his family for many years in Tennessee and Alabama.
