Alex G. Asseff Dies at 57; Rites Today
Alex G. Asseff Sr., 57, 1922 Bermuda, died at 10:20 p.m. Friday at the Highland Hospital following a lengthy illness.
A native of Mansfield, Mr. Asseff had resided in Shreveport for the past 31 years and had been the district engineer in the Shreveport Division of the Department of Conservation prior to his death. He had been employed in the Conservation Department for 31 years.
A veteran of World War II, Mr. Asseff was a colonel in the U.S. Army Reserve and was a member of the 40 & 8 Club, the Elks Club, the Shreveport Petroleum Club, the El Karubah Shrine Temple and the Broadmoor Masonic Lodge.
He was a member of St. Paul's Episcopal Church.
Funeral services will be held in the chapel of the Osborn Funeral Home at 4 p.m. Sunday with the Rev. W. D. Kelner, assistant rector, officiating, assisted by the Rev. W. Meade Brown, rector, of St. Paul's Episcopal Church.
Burial will be in Forest Park Cemetery.
Mr. Asseff is survived by his widow, Mrs. Lillie Ellis Asseff, Shreveport; three sons Alex G. Asseff Jr., William Asseff and Charles Asseff, all of Shreveport; his father, George Asseff, Mansfield; two brothers, Dr. Emmett Asseff and W. G. Asseff, both of Mansfield; and three sisters, Miss Amelia Asseff, Miss Laure Asseff and Miss Emma Asseff, all of Mansfield.
Pallbearers will be Pete Storna, Nick Ellis, Waddy Abraham, Zack Sanders, Bill Fisher, Duval George, C. H. Thigpen and Carl McCain.
