PROVIDENCE, UT-- Elizabeth (Betty) Whittenburg Bagley, 74, passed away peacefully at home in the care of her family. She died from cancer on Oct. 9, 2000.
Betty was born in Gunnison, Utah on March 5, 1926 to David H. and Lela Ivie Whittenburg. Her father was a former Mayor of Richfield,
Utah, a chairman of the Utah Highway Commission, and Salt Lake City Treasurer. Betty graduated from Richfield High School in 1944 where she was active in drama and a clarinetist in the band. She attended BYU and USU and during this period became a member of the LDS Church. She held secretarial positions at the BYU Athletic Dept. and at the Richfield High School, and the Logan Hospital.
She married Jay M. Bagley, her high school sweetheart, on April 11, 1947. The marriage was later solemnized in the Logan LDS Temple. Betty was a joyful and energetic homemaker in such places as Eugene, OR, Denver, CO, and Palo Alto, CA before coming back to Logan, UT.
Betty was active in DUP, Booklore, Engineers wives, and Kiwaniannes. She was a graduate of the LDS institute of Religion, advisor to the Lamda Delta Sigma Sorority, and has had various church assignments. She had interest in various forms of arts and crafts such as sewing, knitting, stitchery, quilting, and upholstering, the products of which generally went to children, grandchildren, and family friends. Betty was also an avid genealogist and gardener.
She is survived by her husband, Jay M. Bagley; a son, David (Pat) Bagley, Koosharem, UT; daughters Margaret (Gregory) Meacham, Idaho Falls, ID; Becky (Lee) Malan, Og-den, UT; Jeanette (James) Seidelman Park City, UT; Marilyn (Edward) Kalbach, Provi-dence, UT. She is also survived by her twin brother, Robert Whittenburg of Salt Lake City, UT. She leaves 12 grandsons, three granddaughters, and three great-granddaughters.
Funeral services will be held at Providence 4th Ward, 155 N. 100 E. at 12 noon, Friday Oct. 13. A viewing will be held at the chapel one hour before the service. Burial will be on Saturday, Oct. 14th at 1 p.m. at the Koosh-arem Town Cemetery, Koosharem, Utah.
Funeral service are under the direction of Allen-Hall Mortuary.
