Conde was a WWII veteran, and was involved with the grocery business in Rochester, IN, as part owner of the Berkway IGA grocery.

Conde Holloway, September 12, 1917 - June 5, 1996, Conde D. Holloway, 78, Rochester, died at 10:30 p.m. Wednesday (June 5, 1996) at his residence. Born in Rochester to Granville and Maude Thompson Holloway, he married Ella Mae Brown in 1941. He owned and operated the Berkway Supermarket and Conde's Farm Market. He was a member of the Trinity United Methodist Church, Rochester, past president of the Rochester Loins Club, former Boy Scout leader, recipient of the Order of the Arrow award, past chairman of the Fulton County Round Barn Festival, and active with Fulton County United Ministries. He was also active in the adult chapter of Fellowship of Christian Athletes, the 1989 recipient of the Rochester Chamber of Commerce Community Service Award, and a board member of the American Cancer Society. He served in the U.S. Army during the occupation of Japan. Preceding him in death were one sister, Opal Partridge, and two brothers, Donald and Clifford. Surviving with his wife are one son, Joseph Holloway, Minneapolis, Minn.; one daughter, Jane Daniels, Bloomington; three grandchildren, Tony Daniels, Bloomington, and Brendan and Daryl Holloway, Minneapolis, Minn; and one brother, George D. Holloway, Rochester. Services will be at 10:30 Saturday at the Trinity United Methodist Church with Rev. Don Brenneman officiating. Burial will be in the IOOF Cemetery, Rochester, and visitation will be from 2-4 p.m. and 6-8 p.m. Friday, at the Zimmerman Family Funeral Home, Rochester, and for one hour prior to services at the church. The American Legion and the Veterans of Foreign Wars will conduct military graveside rites. The Lions will conduct a memorial service at 7:30 p.m. Friday at the funeral home. Memorials can be made to the Loins Club Memorial Fund of the Trinity United Methodist Church Memorial Fund.
