Stanley C. Kuwalek, age 92, Tampa, moved to Poland with his mother as a young boy, later returning to the United states as a teenager, residing in the NY/NJ area. He entered the Army in 1943 and served in Europe during the invasion of Normandy, then in December of 1944 was captured and held as a POW for 6 months, marching in the Black forest. He later escaped and found his way to an American Camp in Germany. He received a purple heart for injuries sustained in battle. After the war, he worked for many years as a butcher in New Jersey for Haydu Provisions of Newark, later for Best Provisions, then retiring in 1974 and moved to Florida. His wife, Lillian, predeceased him in June of 2003. He is survived by his daughter, Arleen Liotta, 4 grandchildren and 10+ great grandchildren. Two half-brothers: Leonard Kuwalik and Raymond Kuwalik; sister-in-law and her husband, Helen and Joseph Shapiola; several nieces and nephews. Burial with Military Honors at Florida National Cemetery, Bushnell, FL.
