John J. Oleksa, 84, formerly of Limestone, NY, was a son of the late Michael and Susan (Yaros) Oleksa.
On June 18, 1949 in Bradford he married Helen A. (Hopkins) Oleksa who died March 7, 2001.
Mr. Oleksa was a 1943 graduate of Bradford High School. He enlisted in the US ARMY served during WW II, he was wounded and awarded the Purple Heart, then honorably discharged. He was a charter member of the Medical Air Services Association.
He had been employed at Dresser Manufacturing Co. for more than 35 years retiring in 1989. He was a member of St. Patrick's Roman Catholic Church where he assisted with the Lawn Fete and served on the Parish Council. He and his wife enjoyed square dancing with the Bells and Beaus Square Dance Club, traveling and wintering in Ocala FL.
Mr. Oleksa is survived by two daughters; Deborah C. (John) Bigler and Sharon Armstrong, one son; John S. Oleksa, 5 grandchildren, 2 great grandchildren, two brothers; Joseph Oleksa, and Paul Oleksa, and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, one brother: Michael Oleksa and two sisters: Anna Coldren and Mary Seaward.
Burial in St. Patrick's Cemetery.
