Inscription

He delighted in doing the hard things for those he loved. On enlisting he wrote home "The enlisting Officer asked me to what department did I wish to be be assigned. I joined to serve my Country so I asked him, where are men most needed? He said, 'As Firemen.' I told him to put me down as a Fireman". So as a Fireman on the Minneapolis He served and as a Fireman he died.
