Birth: Sep. 25, 1686
New London County
Connecticut, USA
Death: Jan. 26, 1761

WILLIAM STANCLIFT was born while the family lived in Lyme, New London County, CT on Sept. 25, 1686. He was baptized into the First Congregational Church in Middletown, Hartford County, CT on Mar. 4, 1694.
"William, James, Mary, and Martha ye children of our sister Mary, ye wife of James Stantlife" Middletown First Congregational Church Records 1668-1871 page 18. Original records Archives section, Connecticut State Library

His first marriage took place in Middletown, Hartford County, CT on Mar. 10, 1710 and he married OLIVE STANBROUGH. To this union was born James "James Jr" STANCLIFT II.

After the death of his wife, Olive, he married again on Oct. 5, 1721 to ESTHER ADAMS.

Though some records list his 2nd son, Josiah STANCLIFT as being the son of Olive, his date of birth is well after her death. This suggests that he was actually the son born to the 2nd marriage between William and Esther.
