Rod grew up in Shafter, CA, and moved to Southern California in 1969. He spent over 30 years in the newspaper business, working for the Orange County Register and the Los Angeles Times.
Rod was a devoted father who loved all sports and spending time with his two sons. He coached their youth baseball, basketball, and soccer teams and was an unwavering supporter of their high school sports teams.
Rod fought his illness long and hard and did things that no one ever thought possible. He made everyone proud. His strength and determination have been an inspiration to us all.
