Learn about upgrading this memorial...
Birth: Oct. 13, 1903
Death: Feb. 4, 2000

In the introduction to a book entitled "A Century in the Shadow of Pike's Peak" (Don Lawrie, His Mountain His Life), Verda's daughters wrote that in their mother's life as a professional musician---pianist, organist, accompanist and teacher, was the material for another book. Verda was born in Indiana to Thomas McCleary and his wife Atta Bell. She had a younger brother Eugene. The family moved to Colorado prior to 1920. By the 1930 census, her father was a widower, her mother having passed away in January that year. In September of 1930, Verda married Kenneth Donald Lawrie, who was called "Don". They had two daughters Ann and Jean. There was great longevity in both their lives and their marriage which lasted until Verda's passing in February 2000. Her husband Don passed away one month later.
