The Eldon Advertiser, June 1940
Eliza Frances Neville was born September 2, 1862, and passed away at her home June 29, 1940, at the age of 77 years, 9 months, and 27 days, having spent her life on the tract of land entered by her parents when they moved here from Kentucky.
On April 29, 1888, she was united in marriage to William P. Roark, who departed this life in October 1915. To this union five children were born, four of whom survive, Lois Dean, Drucie and Ralph of the home, and Leslie of near Versailles; Myra having preceded her in death five years ago; four step-children, Lora L. of Littleton, Colo.; Mrs. Annie Reynolds, near High Point, Harvey C. of Palm Springs, Calif.; and Austin W. who passed from this life two years ago. She leaves besides the children, six grandchildren, Helen and Carol Roark of the home; Clemons Roark of Rochester, Pa.; Mayford Roark of Boulder, Colo.; Harold Hinds of Glendale, Calif., and Louis Reynolds, High Point; and one great-grandchild, Richard Roark.
Mrs. Roark was converted and united with the Green Ridge Church at the age of 15 years and remained faithful, always doing what she could until a year ago when she took sick and was not able to leave her home again. She still took an interest in the Lord's work and read her Bible daily so long as she was able, reading it through in the year 1939. She enjoyed the pastor's many visits with scripture reading and prayer. She also enjoyed the visits of her many friends, often speaking of their kindness in coming. Her suffering was borne with patience and the Lord took her spirit peacefully away at 2:20 o'clock Saturday morning.
Mr. and Mrs. Harvey Roark and Mrs. Dora Roark were here during the last few weeks to help care for her. Lora visited her a few weeks ago, but could not attend the funeral. Ralph was not able to attend on account of illness.
The funeral was held Sunday afternoon at Green Ridge Baptist Church with the pastor, the Rev. Joe Ross of Clarksburg, in charge of the service.
