Charles Roark is pictured with his wife, Nettie May, and their children - Truman (back row, center), Logan (in front of Truman) and Nelson.
Born on December 9, 1880, Charles was raised on his parents' farm near Decatur. His granfather was one of the early pioneer families that came from Kentucky and settled in the area. He married Nettie May Barbour on April 2, 1903, and the couple lost one son, Nuel, in infancy. Charles operated a farm approximately 7 miles northwest of Eldon and later transferred his membership from Mt. Olive Baptist Church to Enon Baptist Church.
He was 67 years old when he died from a stroke on February 28, 1947, and was buried in Enloe Cemetery in rural Moniteau County.
