He was father to Marjorie Bisognano and her husband, Frank; Beverley Rattigan and her husband Ronald; Carol Lee Leaver; and Carl R Chamberlain and his wife Carol Ann. He had four grandchildren: Mark and Paul Bisognano, Christine Lee Leaver, and Lee Chamberlain Rattigan. He was the brother of Jean Foster and her husband Raymond, and predeceased by a sister Ruth Chamberlain.
He served his country for six years in the Navy during WWII. He was involved in the D-Day invasion of Normandy.
He was an educator in the Marblehead School System for many years, rising from elementary teacher to principal, elementary supervisor, and assistant superintendent of schools.
He was active in the American Legion and the Rotary. He was a member of the North Shore Superintendents of Massachusetts.
He enjoyed summers boating on Lake Winnipesaukee and a lengthy retirement at The Lake Region Mobile Home Village.
