Thomas Franklin Burton Dead
Thomas Franklin Burton was born in Randolph County, MO on January 1, 1848, and was therefore 73 years, 8 months and 24 days of age. Died at the State Hospital at Fulton on Sunday morning, September 25, 1921. He had been an inmate of the institution for over two years. He had been in poor health for several years. He had been a resident of Sturgeon for a number of years and was a hard working man and a good citizen and a man that the general public liked. He was married to Mrs. Dora Glore on November 28, 1900 and to this union were born 8 children, all surviving with the wife except one child, who died in infancy. The children are: Mrs. Edna Gear, Mrs. Murl Mobley, of near Sturgeon; Edgar, Robert, Johnnie and Howard, who live with the mother, and Mrs. Lera Ferguson of Jonesburg. Mr. Burton united with the Baptist church in 1900 and lived a faithful Christian life. He is also survive by one sister, Mrs. Rebecca Dameron of Huntsville; one half-brother, George Butts, and one half-sister, Mrs. A. J. Lyon, of near Clark. Funeral services were conducted at the local Baptist church Tuesday afternoon by Rev. C. A. Mitchell and burial in the cemetery at Perseverance (Lick Fork Cemetery). Mr. Burton will be sadly missed by his loved ones, but the Lord called and he obeyed the call, and has gone to reap his reward. The Leader extends sympathy to the bereaved wife and children.
