Birth: Mar. 2, 1912
Rutledge
Delaware County
Pennsylvania, USA
Death: Dec. 18, 2002
Saint Petersburg
Pinellas County
Florida, USA

Col. Strayer was the Commander of the 2nd Batallion, of the 506th Parachute Infantry Regiment, 101st Airborne Division, and he played a prominent role with the entire batallion, especially, the men of "Easy" company.

Despite the supposed brutal treatment of Easy Company at the hands of their then Company Commander, Capt. Sobel, Strayer became very well-known for marching the company over a hundred miles, from Camp Toccoa, to Atlanta, the event made national news at the time, but failed to make the cut for the HBO miniseries "Band of Brothers."

He was played by Phil McKee in the HBO/BBC miniseries "Band of Brothers."

Cause of death: Massive heart attack.
