Inscription
SACRED
to the Memory of
Mrs. MARY B. LUCE,
Wife of Captain James C. Luce,
who died April 13, 1836,
during her Husbands Voyage to
England, aged 26 years,
leaving an infant son
8 days old.
Alas! to find thee thus forever gone
And not to meet thee with our infant son!
But our's the loss: Thou, pure & sainted wife,
Though dead, dost breath a fresh & glorious life
Be ours the care until life's Voyage be past
To find with thee our happy home at last
May He who lead thee guide us to the shore
And our first meeting be to part, no more.
