Born Jan. 13, 1899, in Elgin, to Herbert and Gertrude (nee McConnell) Secombe, she died Saturday, Sept. 4, 1999, at Heritage Manor Nursing Home.
A lifelong resident of Elgin, Grace was a member of the Episcopal Church of the Redeemer since 1924 and was secretary of the Sunday school for 16 years. She had attended Elgin High School and was employed by the Elgin National Watch Company for 46 years before retiring.
Grace was a member of the Order of the Eastern Star #212 since 1922 and was Worthy Matron and Grand Lecturer for 60 years and Grand Representative for the states of Illinois, Wisconsin and Kansas. She was also a member of the Royal Neighbors, the Lady Elgin Camp, the American Legion Auxiliary #57, and the White Shrine of Jerusalem.
Surviving are her niece, Patricia (Wayne) Webb of McHenry; one great-nephew; two great-nieces; four great great-nephews; and three great-great-nieces.
She was preceded in death by her parents; sister, Marjorie Thompson; and brothers, Edwin, Herbert and Richard Secombe.
Burial will be in Bluff City Cemetery in Elgin,Il.
