Dr. Thomas Patrick Scarinci, 54, died on Tuesday, July 15, 1997, at his home in Palm Desert, California. Born in New York, Dr. Scarinci was the founder and Executive Director of Outreach Ministries, a non-profit Christian counseling and educational center in Palm Desert, California. He provided counseling and educational programs to people in need in the Coachella Valley.
He was a world-renowned speaker, lecturer and author and conducted seminars all over the world on marriage, family and child-counseling topics. Dr. Scarinci wrote several books, including: "Ten Days Dead", "Hurt and Anger", Christian Counselors", and "Marvel".
He was an undergraduate of Rutgers University and a graduate of the University of the Pacific, in Stockton, California.
He was a member of the Association of Christian Counselors and the American Psychiatric Association. Dr. Scarinci was also a reserve deputy for the Riverside County Sheriff's Department and a member of the California Mounted Officer's Association and the Indio Sheriff's Posse. He became an ordained minister in 1978 and served in the United States Air Force from 1962 to 1966.
Dr. Scarinci's mother, Mary Scarinci, died in 1984 and his father, Michael Scarinci, died in 1987. Surviving are his wife, Cheryl Jean Scarinci, a son, Heath Walker Scarinci of Lafayette, California; three brothers, his twin, Albert Scarinci of Scotch Plains, Joseph Scarinci, of Troy, Pennsylvania, and Danny Scarinci, of Martinsville, and two sisters, Noreen McCallum of Waretown and Marie Evans of Toms River, New Jersey.
Funeral arrangements were handled by Palm Springs Mortuary in Cathedral City, California. Memorial contributions may be made to Outreach Ministries, P.O. Box 1634, Palm Desert, California 92261.
