Aurora Daily Express, Monday March 12, 1900:
Mrs. Caroline Wolgast Ludecke, aged 86 years, died at the home of her son G.F. Wolgast at 292 Beach street Saturday Morning at 9 o'clock. Deceased was born in Germany, December 9, 1813, and has been a resident of Aurora 31 years. The funeral will be held from the house at 1:30 o'clock Monday afternoon and from the German Evangelical church on Main street at 2 o'clock.

Charlotte Caroline Friedericke Luedecke, Geb. Wollgast, emigrated from Stegelitz/Templin, Prussia, in 1869. Caroline Ludecke, age 86, was interred on March 12, 1900. She had sons Gottlieb (Wolgast) and Ferdinand (Luedecke). Cemetery plot owner is Gottlieb Wolgast.

Married 1st Carl Wolgast; 2nd Martin Ludecke.

Note: Ferdinand Luedeke (born about 1850 in Prussia) married Emma Hartzburg on 14 Mar 1872 in Kane Co., IL; they had children Anna (born about 1876) and Fred (born about 1877). Emma died 12 Nov 1878 in Aurora, and in June 1880, Ferdinand & children were living with his mother.

F. A. Luedeke, 30, son of Martin Luedicke & Caroline Wollgast, married Sophia Wessendolph, 26, daughter of Christ. Wessendolph & Sophia Steinbeck, on 8 March 1879 or 1880, in Kane Co., IL.

Ferdinand A. Ludike remarried in 1881 in Champaign Co., IL to Emilie Maria Carolina "Amelia" Medenwald; record gives his parents' names. He was a resident of Gilman, Iroquois Co. when license was issued. He was called "pastor of a German Lutheran Church in Raymond Township, Champaign County [IL]" in 1887; he was the minister who performed the marriage of Amelia's brother Frank/Ferdinand Medenwald in Chicago in 1896. Son Walter was born in Chicago in 1889, Amelia's fifth child; two other sons recorded in the records of St. Peter's Evangelical Church, Champaign, are Karl Ferdinand Heinrich and Herbert Johannes Heinrich. Ferdinand died before 1920, when Amelia is recorded as a widow in the 1920 census, Pawnee City, NE.
