"Gottlieb F. Wolgast, 80 years old, died yesterday afternoon at 4 o'clock, of general debility. He suffered a stroke four weeks ago.
He was employed by the Burlington railroad in the bridge building department for 43 years. One daughter and three sons survive. They are Mrs. P. J. Stanton, of Chicago, Frank, of Chicago, and Oscar and Paul of Aurora.
The funeral will be held Wednesday morning at 9 o'clock from the Denney & Denney chapel. The Reverend Mr. Osterland will officiate. Interment will be in Montrose cemetery, Chicago."
Son of Carl Wolgast, widower of Anna/Hanna. Emigrated 1867; from Stegelitz/Templin, Prussia. He was a carpenter, then a bridge builder for the C.B. & Q. railroad. He lived at Beach & Superior streets in Aurora up to 1920 census, but residence on death certificate is given as 481 New York St. Cause of death: inanition and exhaustion or general de[?]bility. His children were Frank (married Minnie Knaack), Emma (married Patrick Stanton & Thomas Ammeson), Oscar (married Emma Seidelmann), Paul, Annie, and Clara.
