Gerald Green of Stillwater went to the Lord on Sunday, the 28th of August at St. Anthony's Hospital in Oklahoma City. Family will greet friends on Wednesday, Aug. 31, 2011 from 6:00-8:00 at the Strode Funeral Home Chapel. Funeral services will be held Thursday, 1 September at First Baptist Church at 2:00pm.

Gerald was born June 17, 1930 in Brooken, Okla. He attended Kinta High School before marrying Juanita Wilson, the love of his life. He was drafted into the U.S. Army at the end of World War II and served a tour in Germany before being discharged and returning to Oklahoma. Gerald worked for Southwestern Bell until he retired and then started working at OSU in the Telecommunications Department, where he installed phone systems in student housing and worked football games.

He was a member of Second Baptist Church in Okmulgee and a forty-year member of First Baptist Church in Stillwater, where he was an active member with his family.

Gerald was an avid golfer, taking great pride in his two holes-in-one and playing rounds with his son and grandsons. He was also a spirited OSU fan, purchasing season tickets for basketball for over thirty years and attending football games while working at OSU and later with his son-in-law. He often talked about being one of the people who helped build Theta pond on campus.

His greatest pride was his grandsons. Gerald help raise BJ and Connor, attending everything from PTA meetings to football and basketball games. He enjoyed having Tyler spend the last ten years in Stillwater and seeing Justin and Derrick grow up into fine young men.

Gerald was pre-deceased by his wife Juanita and son Scott. He is survived by his brothers Harley Mackey of Broken Arrow and Clifford Mackey of Claremore, his daughter Janet, husband Steve and grandson Tyler of Stillwater; son Doug of Stillwater and grandsons Derrick and Justin of Plano, Texas, and daughter Penny and grandsons BJ and Connor of Stillwater.
