STILLWATER, Okla. — Shirley Colclasure, 76, passed away Nov. 26th, 2010 in Stillwater, Oklahoma with her family by her side.
A memorial service was held Monday, Nov. 29th at 10 AM at St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church in Stillwater, Oklahoma.
She was born Aug. 5, 1934 in Apache, Okla. to Carl Louis Smith and Jessie Arvilla Warner. Her father was a farmer and her mother was a teacher and a homemaker, raising their ten children among which Shirley was the youngest.
She graduated from Oklahoma A&M College in 1955 where she met and married Eugene Colclasure. After their graduations, they were stationed across the U.S. while Eugene served in the U.S. Army. They settled in Odessa, Texas and then Stillwater, Okla. in 1968.
Shirley spent her spare time with her family. Mrs. Colclasure was a homemaker while her husband was a pharmacist. As entrepreneurs, they owned and operated Cecil's in the Union, for 38 years from 1968 – 2006, before retiring. She was an active member in many volunteer organizations and activities of her children.
Her interests included family, gardening, cooking, sewing and reading. She was a kind and gentle soul and found her greatest happiness from helping others.
Shirley is survived by her husband, Eugene, and her children Jon and his wife Lori, Tanya and her husband Bill Raun, Cecilee, Jessica, and her husband Brian Henson. Her thirteen grandchildren are: Lauren and Ali Colclasure, Anne, Kate, Chris and Dana Raun, Mayer Stein, Alexis Jensen, Rachael and Conner Stein, Gabrielle, Haskell and Hawkins Henson. She is also survived by three brothers, Harry Smith, Duncan, Okla. Wayne Smith and his wife Jean, Oklahoma City, Okla., and Ed Smith and his wife Jean, Stillwater, Okla., sister Mary Martin, Enid, Okla., and two sisters-in-law Ruth Smith of Yukon, Okla. and Irene Smith of Elk City, Okla.. She also has 26 nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by brothers Frank and his wife Edith Smith of Apache, Okla., Virgil Smith, Duncan, Okla., Carl Smith, Elk City, Okla., Neil Smith, Calif., sister Arva Horschler, Anadarko, Okla. and brother-in-law Rex Martin, Enid, Okla..
Shirley's physical body was not present at the memorial service as she desired to participate in Oklahoma University Medical Center's research program.
