SHILLING, BETTY G.— Age 83, of Battle Creek, formerly of Addison, passed away on Sunday, May 27, 2007, at Laurels of Bedford Skilled Nursing Center in Battle Creek. She was born on September 22, 1923 in Auburn, Indiana to John and Opha (Carnahan) Mason. She married Edward R. Shilling on March 7, 1942 in Auburn, Indiana, and he preceded her in death on January 26, 1975. Betty was raised in Auburn, and then came to the Lenawee-Jackson County area in 1952. She moved to Addison in 1993. She attended school in Auburn, IN and attended the Rollin Friends Church of Addison. Surviving are one son, Edward E. (Gwen) Shilling of Cadillac; three daughters, Sandra K. (Raymond) Walker of Battle Creek, Cheryl L. (Roderick) Norton of Addison, Karen S. (Al) Rodgers of Woodland, MI; 16 grandchildren; 24 great-grandchildren; daughter-in-law, Wanda Shilling of Jackson; one sister, Pauline Yarlot of Auburn, IN. She was preceded in death by her husband; two sons, Ronald L. Shilling, John G. Shilling, and a daughter in law, Emma Shilling. Funeral services will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Wednesday, May 30, 2007 at the Brown-Van Hemert Funeral Home in Addison with Pastor Kenneth Nichols officiating. Burial will take place in Hillcrest Cemetery in Jackson. The visitation will be from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. on Tuesday. View this obituary and send condolences to the family at:
