Mickell Douglas McNeil, age 68 of Texarkana, Texas passed away on April 28, 2013 at his home in Texarkana after losing his courageous battle to lung cancer. He was born on July 26, 1944 in Texarkana Arkansas to the late Dewell Gann and Berlie Irene (Adkison) McNeil. He was also preceded in death by one daughter, Beverly Elayne McNeil.
Mickell attended Beverly Elem. School, Texarkana TX, Westlawn Jr. High School, Texarkana TX and Texas Senior High School, Texarkana TX and was in the 1962 graduating class. He was known as "Butch" all the way through school and after joining the Marines in 1961, changed his name to "Mike" and was mostly known by that name until his death.
He served 3 tours in Vietnam and was a Gunnery Sergeant at the end of his military career. He worked as a heavy equipment operator and project manager for Brown and Root working mostly for Mr. George Brown. He attended Texas A & M studying Industrial Engineering in the 1970's. He also studied and received a Diploma/Certificate as a Paralegal in 1990.
He enjoyed motorcycles through out his life and in his later years after becoming disabled he changed over to riding Trikes and started building custom Trikes for others. He was a Political Activist for the Republican Party for the past several years preceding his death.
Mike is survived by his wife, Betty (whom he married October 1, 2011 in Texarkana) and step-son Jody Benson and his wife Charity and a host of friends.
