The second of four surviving out of 12 children of Gottleib Knoll, weaver (d1893) m1849 Catherina Körner Knoll (1828-1893), Christian was born in Strumpfelback, Backnang District, Baden-Württemberg.
He immigrated to New York on the ship New York with Koerner cousins in 1866.
He moved to Woodford County to farm near Secor and is shown there married to Julia Thurner in 1878 in El Paso, IL, Woodford Co., IL Ten children.
The family remained very close to their relatives for several generations, but then became disconnected.
EL PASO -- Christian Knoll, 91, died at 9:445 p.m. Saturday at the home of his son, Earl, two miles south of Secor, after a one day illness.
Funeral services will be held at 1:30 p.m. Tuesday at his son's home and at 3 p.m. at the Methodist church in Secor. Burial will be in Secor cemetery.
He was born April 12, 1851, at Strumfebach, Germany. He came to America at the age of 15.
On March 7, 1878 he married Miss Julia Thurner. Surviving are nine children. He is also survived by 18 grandchildren and eight great grandchildren.
