Mildred M. Martin, of Fairhaven, passed away on Aug. 3, 2011. She was 81 years old. Mildred was raised in East Bridgewater and graduated from East Bridgewater High School in 1948. She worked for the Shaws Corporation for many years. Mildred was always putting others before herself and she always kept everyone laughing. Beloved wife of the late Joseph Martin. Loving mother of Joseph and Denise Martin of Rehoboth, Richard and Monica Martin of AR, and Debra and Joginder Sajjan of Marshfield. Sister of Joseph and Donna Moniz of NC, and the late Robert Moniz. Cherished grandmother of Joseph Martin of Abington, James and Samantha Martin of VA, John and Liz Ray of New Bedford, Pamela and Chad Spangler of Fairhaven, Tricia and Dennis Murphy of Carver, Laura Ray of Marshfield, Andrew Martin of AR, and Amelia Martin of AR, as well as her great-grand children. A memorial service will be held on Monday, Aug. 8 at 11:00 a.m. at the Shepherd Funeral Home, 116 Main St., (Rte. 58) Carver. Internment will be private. To offer condolences or for directions,visit

She was a descendant of Mayflower Pilgrims John Alden, William Brewster, George Soule, Richard Warren, Thomas Rogers, William Mullins, John Tilley, John Howland, Francis Cooke and a member of the Daughters of the American Revolution, Lydia Cobb Chapter, Taunton, MA and a descendant of American Patriots Job Bryant, William Makepeace, Simeon Wilbur, Joseph Wilbur, Joseph Presbrey, James Field, William Wetherell, Simeon Tyler, Daniel Keene, Reuben Freeman, Gideon Soule, Levi Drew, James Smith, George Ulmer, John Ulmer, & Moses Downing. She loved her children, grandchildren & great grandchildren. Her nickname in school was Mousey, we all called her Milly, Ma, & Nana and she had a great sense of humor.
