Baptised in Burton Dassett, Warwickshire, 22 Sep 1595, son of William Makepeace. Merchant from Burton Dassett, Warwickshire, who came to Massachusetts Bay in 1635 (based on appointment to Dorchester committee on 4 Jan 1635/6). First settled in Dorchester; moved to Boston in 1648 or 1649. Died between 30 Jun 1666 (date of will) & 2 Mar 1666/7 (date of inventory).
Married (1) in Alkerton, Oxfordshire, 10 Oct 1620, Alice Brasier.
(2) by 1641, Elizabeth (Hawkredd) (Coney) Mellowes, daughter of Anthony Hawkredd & widow of John Coney & Oliver Mellowes.
Prior to his migration to New England, Thomas Makepeace was associated with THOMAS WELLES {1635, Cambridge} & GEORGE WYLLIS {1638, Hartford} in the purchase of a Squamscott patent, but no genealogical connections to either of these men have been discovered. Thomas Makepeace, his wife & father had also engaged in land transactions with George Wyllis in England in 1635 & earlier.
